Product Highlights
The 1928-SA South African Full Sovereign was struck at the Pretoria Mint during the reign of King George V. Struck from 22 carat (916.7 fine) gold, the coin features Sir Edgar Bertram Mackennalโs portrait of King George V on the obverse alongside Benedetto Pistrucciโs iconic St George and the Dragon design on the reverse.
The โSAโ mintmark identifies this Sovereign as having been struck at the Pretoria Mint in South Africa, which operated as a branch of The Royal Mint. This example has been graded AU58 by NGC, recognising a coin that remains close to Mint State with strong original detail and only slight evidence of circulation. Its historic South African origin, gold content and certified grade make it a desirable addition to a Sovereign collection.
