Product Highlights
The 1980 Quintuple Sovereign was struck by The Royal Mint in 22 carat gold during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse features Benedetto Pistrucci's iconic depiction of St George slaying the dragon, a design that has become synonymous with the British Sovereign series.
The obverse features Arnold Machin's second definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, depicting Her Majesty wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. This proof example has been professionally graded PF68 Ultra Cameo by NGC, recognising a high-quality proof coin with excellent preservation and exceptional contrast between its frosted design and deeply mirrored fields.
Its substantial Quintuple Sovereign format, classic Pistrucci design, 1980 date and certified PF68 Ultra Cameo grade make it a desirable addition to a British Sovereign collection. As an earlier modern proof issue, it offers collectors an opportunity to acquire a distinguished example of British gold coinage from the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
